Construction for our new location is underway!  The facility is 7200 square feet and is located across the street from Ikea, in Renton.  The facility will be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to care for patients needing emergency and critical care.  The facility will have 6 examination rooms, 2 surgery rooms, an ICU, laboratory, and isolation ward.  In addition, the facility will have a conference room to provide a location for in-house and community education presentations.

In keeping with our commitment to the environment, green building techniques and products are being used when possible during the construction process.  Some of the things we are doing include:

• A bike rack is being installed and a shower will be available to encourage bike commuting
• The facility is close to 2 bus stations to allow for arrival at our facility using public transportation
• All materials removed from the building during construction are being sorted to maximize the precent being recycled
• Efforts are being made to purchase building materials made within 500 miles of the facility to decrease the carbon produced in transportation of materials
• All doors in the facility are made from FSC certified wood-this means that the wood comes from forests that are sustainably managed
• No VOC paint is being used in the facility
• Bathrooms have dual flush toilets which use less water than standard toilets. Faucets and the shower have low-flow heads
• Lighting was designed to be comfortable but to use less energy than demanded by code
• Fluorescent lights are used throughout the new facility and occupancy sensing controls are used to automatically turn off the lights when not in use
• Mercury-free fluorescent light bulbs were specified throughout the facility
• Appliances being purchased are Energy Star rated to reduce the amount of energy needed in the facility
• The finished ceiling materials contain approximately high recycled content and are specified for low VOC content as well
• All interior tack surfaces are made from 100% recycled content and are formaldehyde free
• New wheel stops in the parking lot are manufactured from recycled materials
• All new building insulation is specified to be formaldehyde free
• All caulking is low, or no, VOC content material
• Steel stud wall framing allows for future recycling and reuse of materials
