Our Donors:

Chilly

Chilly is a dog on-the-go.  When he is not donating blood to help other dogs, he may be competing in obedience, agility, freestyle, or field-training.  He also has a new little brother named Blaze who he has to teach all these skills to.   Chilly loves any treat he can get, but string cheese is his favorite.  Chilly is one of the ACCES Blood Bank’s first donors and is also one of the most photogenic.

Bailey & Kooper

Bailey and Kooper have been best friends since Kooper was less than 4 months old.
Kooper is a 1 1/2 year old Golden Retriever and Bailey is a 2 year old Boxer, they began donating blood in 2011. Kooper and Bailey LOVE spending time together. Especially if they're swimming, wrestling, digging giant holes in the backyard, or destroying something special that belongs to their mommies - like their shoes or debit cards! They both have a special love for the Royal Canin 'Boxer' food and any kind of garbage left within their reach. By those who love them, they're called 'Bails' and 'Koop' - yet they rarely come when called. Their owners work at Banfield the Pet Hospital in Renton so they've chosen to donate blood so that they
can save lives like their mommies do every day.

Bowser

When Bowser saw his mom at a local shelter event, it was love at first sight. To repay her for giving him love and a home, Bowser wanted to donate blood and save other dogs. Because he is loved, he has many nicknames including: Bow-Wow, Wowser, B-man, Monkey Face and Big Boy. Because he's a lab, he's obsessed with playing ball. At home, Bowser has mastered taking up 80% of the bed but downplays his pretentiousness with copious amounts of affection and sweetness.

Eddie C.

Eddie, also known as Edweirdo, is one of ACCES’s first and most reliable blood donors.  He has even come in the middle of the night to donate blood for another dog!  When he’s not giving back by giving blood, Ed spends his time counter-surfing for illicit treats, participating in rally obedience, and working as a therapy dog.  All foods are his favorite, but he especially enjoys satsumas, apples, and tomatoes.

Harley

A typical Golden Retriever, many of Harley’s favorite things won’t surprise you – bread and peanut butter make him weak in the knees, he loves swimming (however enforced bathing is something different entirely) playing with his kids and his dog best friend, Coco the pug.  Large for his breed, Harley is known around town as the ‘Gentle Giant’ and he is always happy to lean in and give you a hug.  Harley believes that family is important and he hopes that by donating blood he can help save another dog’s life so that they can live out a happy life with their family too.

Nutmeg

Nutmeg (better known as Nutty) has many special qualities.  He is friends with everyone he meets, and gives blood in the hope that by saving a life, he may save a future friend.  Nutty generally spends his time being cute, and luring veterinary technicians into petting his tummy.  When he is at home he likes to scrounge for food under the bird cage and in his cat’s litter box.  Naughty Nutty!

Rita

A blood donor since 2006, Rita is the consummate professional.  She was rescued from the race track and now plays nanny to her owner’s little girl – stealing Cheerios when the boss isn’t looking.  Rita also enjoys playing in the water and hearing how perfect she is.  She donates blood because the liver treats she gets at ACCES are marginally better than the Cheerios at home.

Casey

One of the many reasons that the blood bank loves our blood drives at Cascade Animal Clinic is because we are always curious to see what bling Casey will have on.  A true fashionista, Casey prefers to sport various Swarovski crystals on her collar to better enhance her natural beauty.  She got the best genes from both sides – mom is an English mastiff, and dad is a boxer.  Casey especially enjoys running – especially if she can steal your glove as she goes by, inciting a fabulous game of chase.  Casey is super friendly and loves everyone.  Although she is still a puppy at heart, and likes to get into trouble like a puppy, Casey always means well.  She donates blood because being able to give the gift of life is an amazing thing.

Fonto

Molly

Molly is the biggest little dog you have ever met.  Sweet and gentle, she always seems completely unaware of her intimidating stature at 130lbs. She in never aggressive to animal or human, and is always a perfect lady when she accepts a treat at the blood bank.  At home, Molly is just the same.  She especially enjoys sleeping, going to the dog park and any car ride in general.  Molly may sound like the perfect dog (and she is!) but she does have a few quirks.  Although she doesn’t bark, if her parents don’t answer the home phone in three rings, she will start howling.  She also howls when the Law & Order theme song is playing on TV! Molly is a blood donor because her calm nature is perfect for giving blood and her family enjoys the opportunity to help other dogs.

Colten

Colten is a flat-coated retriever with a big appetite.  Unfortunately this leads to some counter-surfing in search of anything his mom forgot to put away.  Colten tries to redeem himself by competing in agility, and has even achieved a Rally Excellent title.  When he isn’t eating or competing, he enjoys power naps in any available lap.  He donates blood because his brother does too, and he can’t be left out.  He also likes the treats.

Clifford

Clifford’s heritage may be in question (Rottweiler?  German shepherd?) but his heart is pure gold.  Clifford has been a star-performer at the blood bank, where he goes to meet new people and get more treats.  Clifford also does agility and obedience competitions and he even has one leg in a UKC movie!  Luckily his leg can take the time out from signing autographs every few months to visit ACCES.

Bubba

Lily

Lily is a beautiful Pygmy Mastiff who has many hobbies including: eviscerating any stuffed toy that squeaks, eating, extreme napping, snuggling, and looking good.  Although she has a few undesirable qualities such as drooling in her sleep and hogging the bed, she makes up for them with her easy-going nature.  She is a blood donor because her mom told her that good looks can only get a girl so far in life.

Bandit B

Bandit is a German Shepherd with a lot to do.  He has to play with all his toys, pull his mom around on her bicycle, keep up his amazing good looks, and bark.  A lot.  When he’s not doing, well, whatever he wants, Bandit finds time to give back by donating blood.  An emergency donor at ACCES, Bandit sometimes comes in the middle of the night to donate blood if it’s needed.  Thanks Bandit!

Aftershock

Aftershock is a very active and sporty friend of the blood bank. He enjoys vigorous hikes with his dad, and even carries his own supplies and water in his handy backpack. Now that Aftershock has been a model for the annual donor calendar, he is extremely popular and has to fight off screaming fans.

Araya

Bodey

Bodey likes anything that isn’t good for you.  He’ll lick the peanut butter jar clean, but spit out a carrot.  He loves going anywhere with his owners, including back-country skiing, hiking, jogging, swimming, and of course, the dog park.  One of Bodey’s best qualities is his sweet, patient spirit.  Kids can climb on him, his cat Barry attacks him, other dogs play rough, and he accepts it all in good spirit.  He feels that there are no reasons in the world not to donate, so he does.  His mom thinks he is the most special dog in the world because his nub of a tail wiggles faster then a hummingbird’s wings, and he is truly one of a kind.

Mason-Dixon

Mason Dixon was rescued after surviving hurricane Katrina.  He was 5 months old and only 18 lbs!  Luckily Mason, also known as Monkey, Bullet Bill, and Masonry Bit, found his new mom in Louisiana and she couldn’t resist taking him home for keeps.  Mason is a career blood donor, and used to donate in Chicago before moving to Seattle.  He enjoys blueberries and carrots, really anything veggie, although he does a lot of snorting and burping afterwards.  He also likes hiking through the woods of the Pacific Northwest.  He is a blood donor because he is the universal blood type, and he loves the attention.

Jaelyn

Jae-Jae is a white greyhound with spotted ears.  After being rescued from the race track, Jaelyn has spent her new-found free time going for walks, sticking her nose out the window during car rides, and chasing anything she can smell.  And she’s pretty fast.  Although she is her dad’s best friend, she likes to maintain some bad habits like jumping up on people and getting stuff out of the kitchen sink.  But her service to the canine community as a blood donor far outweighs any naughty inclinations.

G.G.

G.G., named after a children’s book called “Goodness Gorillas” is a sweet, shy dog whose owner rescued her from New Mexico.  Although given up by her previous family for being a cat-killer, G.G.’s new best friend is her resident cat, who she wrestles with all the time.  When not found under your feet, G.G.’s favorite things to do are play-pounce on other dogs at the park, and anything to do with water.  G.G. is a super-snuggler; loyal to her owner and kind to everyone she meets.  She is a blood donor because her sister Nalla had an emergency blood transfusion.  Nalla’s cancer was causing her to bleed internally, and after meeting the greyhound who gave the blood, G.G. wanted to give back too.

Remington

Remy is a big black lab who loves to eat everything.  He especially enjoys his mom’s warm loaves of pumpkin bread when they are left to cool on the counter, and treats at the blood bank.  His favorite activities are chasing the ball, chasing the ball, and chasing the ball.  Sometimes he plays with his sisters Zoe and Sunny if there isn’t a ball available.  Remington believes that he should be a lap dog, and he is so sweet and cuddly that you will too.  He donates blood because his mom told him that it is his civic duty, and since they saved him from being a foster dog, he is happy to give back.

Xandro

Xandro is a German shepherd that actually came from Germany as a puppy. He is very well behaved, and his dad and he enjoy working on new commands that are spoken in German. Xandro knows how handsome he is, and uses that to get all sorts of love and attention-off of which is of course well deserved. Although he doesn't care too much for other dogs, Xandro loves his ball and will play with it for hours without interruption. He became a blood donor because one of his dad's other dogs spent a lot of time at ACCES receiving blood transfusions, and he thought it would be a great idea to give back for his friend Clover.

Damien

Damien doesn’t have many nicknames, but he’s pretty sure that “no” is one of them, because he hears that word a lot.  Damien spends much of his time convincing other dogs to play with him – sitting on the other dog often works to get their attention.  He also sits on his humans’ laps as often as he can.  Damien doesn’t see how his large size should ever prevent him from being a professional lap dog.  He was a shelter dog, and even though he drools a lot and barks at the mailman, Damien still found a family that loves him for who he is.  He donates blood because he has been very fortunate in life and wants to give back.

Gus

Gus is a handsome Golden Retriever who has a lot of responsibilities.  Not only is Gus a blood donor, he is also an assistance dog, and takes care of his mom.  The quintessential Golden, Gus’s favorite activities are swimming and playing ball.  He is eternally good-natured, obedient and has a penchant for cheese products.  Gus donates blood because he can – and because he truly enjoys the process

Coco Chanel

COCO is a Labrador and Poodle mix who got the best genes from both parents.  She loves everyone she meets, is eager to please, and always ready to play.  Her favorite activity is chasing rabbits, and if one isn’t available then a ball will always suffice.  COCO Puff’s other hobby in life is eating.  Anything.  If you turn your back, she may even see what you have to eat on the counter.  This is why COCO comes in to visit the blood bank – she’s willing to travel by car and ferry just to come in and enjoy the delicious liver treats offered at every donation.

Brian

Brian is an energetic Labrador mix.  Even though he had a rough start in life, it hasn’t squashed his easy-going nature or his love of everyone.  His mom has worked hard to help him overcome his fears from puppyhood traumas, and although he is sensitive, Brian now enjoys visiting new places and people.  He lives to chase tennis balls and go swimming whenever he can.  Brian’s only bad habit is a tendency to take everything out of the recycling – perhaps his mom hasn’t sorted it correctly?  Brian is a blood donor because he cares about all animals.

Axel

If you didn’t know Axel, you might find him a bit imposing – at 112 pounds, he is one of the blood bank’s larger donors.  But he’s all love and sweetness to anyone he meets, especially if you have some peanut butter to offer.  A purebred American Bulldog, Axel’s favorite activities revolve around grabbing anything loose and shaking it really hard – shoes, small rugs, and throw pillows are preferred.  Axel is also a bit of jock – he loves swimming and flyball.  His flyball team is “Seattle’s Best Canines”.  Although one of Axel’s nicknames is Turd, he has a sweet disposition, expressive face, and hilarious antics that keep him in his mom’s good graces.  Axel is a blood donor because he wants to help other dogs in need live a long and happy life.

Hoss

Hoss is very large, very happy yellow lab.  He has a strong passion for food, walks around Green Lake, and helping others.  Despite his potentially intimidating size, Hoss volunteers at the Special Olympics, and his sweet disposition makes him easily approachable by all.  He is sensitive to people’s emotions, and is always there for anyone, especially his mom if she is sad or needs some love.  Hoss loves all food, the containers the food comes in, or even your hand if there is food in it.  Watch out!  He is a blood donor because he likes to be there for others in their time of need.  He’s also hoping to save a life so he has more friends to play with.

Dante

Dante is an all-around good boy.  He loves going to work with his mom, who is a licensed veterinary technician, so he can visit with all of his friends, human and otherwise.  He works hard to be a good example for his breed, along with his siblings, who are also pit bulls.  Dante likes to impress people who might be scared of pit bulls with his excellent manners and sweet disposition.  He is also in training to be an Animal Assisted Therapy dog through the Delta Society.  Dante’s best qualities are his eagerness to please and ability to learn new tricks.  His mom says that you can see his soul in his eyes.  She also says that she never taught him the trick of eating all her expensive shoes.  Dante is a blood donor because he wants to save lives like his mom does.  He also thinks that having pit bulls donate blood will help show people what wonderful dogs they are.

Luther

A handsome, solidly built Boxer, Luther’s charm and easy personality are necessary at home because his mom fosters lots of other animals and he happily accepts them all.  Luther also has an appetite for the finer things in life – like blueberries, pineapple, French fries and tacos!  Luther says ‘eh’ a lot, cause he’s from Canada, but we don’t hold that against him.  When not performing somersaults, chasing the laser light, watching TV or playing with his kitties, Luther comes to donate blood.  He donates because he has to earn his keep, and his mom is a strong believer in the donor program.

Davey Jones

Davey is a sweet gentleman of a dog.  He is always ready for a walk or a cuddle, and likes to spend his free time running around, chasing the laser pointer, popping bubbles in the air, playing in his kiddie pool, and pulling the stuffing out of all of his toys.  Davey’s only bad habit is “terd-burgling” – eating the treasures that the cats leave for him in their litter box.  He knows he’s in trouble then because his mom uses his full name “Davey Crockett Jones!!!”  Davey is a blood donor because he wants to help other dogs and maybe save a life or two.

Oliver H.

Oliver is an adorable dark brown pit bull with white toes, an under bite, and a darker brown stripe down his back.  Oliver has a few quirks, including knocking over people’s beverages so he can sip them, but this doesn’t overshadow his sweet and helpful nature.  He’s happy to supervise and sample any cooking in the kitchen or help with yard work by taking all the sticks out of the brush piles for you.  Sweet and goofy, he loves to cuddle, or get under the bed covers when his mom isn’t looking.  He’s a blood donor because he is the universal blood type and he enjoys helping out his fellow furry friends.  Oliver loves the toys, treats, and love he gets every time he comes into ACCES and encourages other dogs to do the same!

Loki

Loki’s name when his family met him was “Stray Dog 991567”, but they thought Loki sounded better.  He is a high-energy dog and loves to play, go to daycare and any time that he is with people.  When not playing, Loki likes to follow his cats around the house – you know cats, they need watching.  Here is Loki’s philosophy on food:  His favorite kind is the kind you eat – sometimes things you’re not supposed to eat, but you don’t know if you don’t try!  Loki’s best quality is how loving he is.  He will take a break from playing with other dogs just to come lay his head in your lap for a moment.  Then, of course, it’s back to playtime!  Loki is a blood donor to help other dogs in need.

Slick

Slick just moved to the area from Indiana.  He was already a champion blood donor at Purdue University’s veterinary hospital and wanted to continue donating when he moved to Seattle.  Slick enjoys running, as well as lots of cuddling and attention from his family and playing with his greyhound sister, Tess.  Slick is calm and easy-going.  His only bad habits are barking when a noise startles him, and protesting when taken off the donation gurney.  Slick is too comfortable and doesn’t want to move!  Slick also donates because as a retired racer he started life without a family - and he knows how important it is that every animal spend as much time with their family as possible.

Petey

Five

Five is a good-looking Greyhound with a red patch of fur over his left eye.  Five is very involved in rescuing Greyhounds from off the track and finding them good homes.  So he can often be found at meet-and-greet booths at pet stores and events across Puget Sound, impressing people with his good manners and snoring ability.  At home, Five enjoys playing with his brother and sister, and dragging the bathroom rug outside when his mom isn’t looking.  Calm and cute, Five donates blood just because he can.

Blue

Blue - aptly named for his striking blue brindle coat – still acts like a puppy sometimes, full of energy and always trying to chew on something.  His hypnotizing golden eyes will melt your heart, and he uses them to get out of trouble.  But he is a perfect gentleman when he donates blood, calm and well-behaved until he’s off the donation table.  Then its time to be rambunctious again!  At home Blue especially enjoys dragging clean laundry around the house and chewing on the occasional chicken wing.  Blue is a blood donor because his brother Five donates, and because his mom told him to!

Bernie

Like any well-loved dog, Bernie comes with a fine assortment of nicknames, including: Bernimal, Bern-man, big brother Bern, Dernie, and Bernard (this one is only used when he’s in trouble!).  Bernie was adopted by his family on the day he was going to be euthanized at an animal shelter, so he lives every day like it is his last.  He loves everybody and everything, but treats and balls are his favorites.  As far as he knows, he has never met a stranger yet, and he greets all friends new and old with lots of face kisses.  Occasionally, Bernie suffers from selective hearing, but otherwise he is a perfect family member.  He gives blood because he wanted to give back to his community, and he really likes all the treats and toys he gets!

Silver

Silver is a Golden Retriever with lots of hobbies.  He has to manage his mom’s veterinary clinic, play with all his toys, make sure his cats are doing what they are supposed to, learn new tricks, look for things to eat, and donate blood.  Silver is the consummate Golden, best at giving kisses and cuddling.  He does occasionally get into trouble for eating things that he shouldn’t and pretending not to hear his mom when she tells him to do something.  Silver is a blood donor because he likes to help out his fellow canines – plus he gets more food!

Billie Jean

Billie Jean hails from a long line of movie stars.  Her grandfather, an Australian Shepherd, made a name for himself starring alongside Mel Gibson in the 1979 thriller Mad Max.  His son, Billie Jean’s father, performed around the country in various rodeo shows and became one of the most well-known stunt dogs in Hollywood.  While working on the 1995 Academy Award nominated film Babe, Billie Jean’s dad met a young Border Collie, the two fell madly in love, and a few years later a precious little pup was born.  Named for the couple’s favorite tennis star, Billie Jean King, Billie grew up a child of Hollywood royalty.  As a puppy, she was featured in a few commercials and got her big break starring alongside mom in the smash hit fil Hotel for Dogs. However, it was not long before Billie realized that while she had so much, there were so many dogs out there with so little.  She gave up acting, sold her share of her father’s rodeo company and vowed to dedicate her life to philanthropic pursuits, including becoming a half-pint donor for the ACCES Blood Bank.  She enjoys running around at the park, watching romantic comedies and tormenting her older step-brother, Yogi.

Leo

Leo is a pure bred Black Labrador Retriever, originally from Ellensburg, Washington.  His mom got him at 9 weeks of age, and he has been her constant sidekick ever since.  Leo is motivated by 3 things in life:  food, fetch, and love.  Not necessarily in that order.
Food:  Leo eats his dinner in record time, and even after donating blood, he will jump into the air for the liver treats at ACCES.
Fetch:  Leo is completely obsessed.  He will fetch anything, down to a piece of lint if he can pick it up in his mouth and throw it at you.  He will fetch until he can’t breathe, then get up and do it again in a couple minutes.  No person, dog, squirrel, nothing else in the world matters if there is a tennis ball to be chased!
Love:  Leo has the purest heart – he was born to love.  Sometimes him mom is sure that he can read her mind.  Their favorite moments together are curled up on the couch, when he looks at her with unconditional love in his eyes.  One of his nicknames is “Ponzi” because he has SO much love to give, he must have gotten it all fraudulently through a ponzi scheme.
Leo donates blood in loving memory of his “cousin” Karl.  His owner’s brother had a 3 year old German Shorthaired Pointer who became suddenly ill and needed a blood transfusion.  He was then diagnosed with acute Leukemia and passed away days later.  It was the transfusion that gave his parents time to love him and say goodbye.  Leo’s owner had never heard of animal transfusions before this happened, so her brother’s experience inspired her to find out more and volunteer Leo to help other animals and their families.  Leo and his mom spread the word and try to recruit donors every chance they get!

Maximus

Maximus (but you can call him Max) is an extremely handsome brindle boxer.  Max is a perfect performer when it comes to donating blood - but at home, Max has his moments.  He loves to dig holes and eat the rugs by the front door if he can get away with it.  He enjoys all food products, rides in the car, fetching, and he believes that he should be a lap dog, despite his size.  Max donates blood to help other dogs, like a dog-friend of his who was once shot.

Mokka

Mokka is a beautiful dog.  She and her sister Athena are both blood donors and Great Dane/Labrador mixes, with deep silvery-grey coats.  Her dad reports that she has no bad habits, but loves any and all kinds of treats, running on her acreage and fetching the ball.  Friendly and loveable, Mokka is special “just because” and she donates blood because she and her family think it is important to help out others.
