Internal Medicine Department Referrals
ACCES provides Internal Medicine services 5 days per week with our internist: Deena Sadek DVM DACVIM. Dr. Sadek manages complex and difficult-to-manage medical cases such as: immune mediated diseases, renal and liver diseases, inflammatory bowel disease, protein-losing diseases, bone marrow dyscrasias and more. She also performs scoping procedures that include endoscopy, bronchoscopy, rhinoscopy and cystoscopy. Dr. Sadek also manages cardiac patients and performs echocardiographic procedures. Surgical Department Referrals
ACCES provides complete surgical coverage 24 hours per day through two board certified surgeons and our emergency doctors. Tamara Walker, DVM DACVS is available Monday-Thursday for surgical services and also provides emergency surgical support for the hospital on an on-call basis. E.B. Dr. Weh is available Tuesday and Wednesday at our Renton location, and Thursday and Friday at our Seattle location. Intensive Care & ER Referrals
ACCES provides state of the art care 24 hours per day for intensive care patients. ACCES is the only hospital in western Washington with two board certified Critical Care Specialists: Dr. Beth Davidow (DAVECC), and Dr. Beth Herman (DACVIM, DACVECC). Oncological Service Referrals
We can stabilize cancer patients with emergency problems related to their cancer and/or cancer therapy. Our internists can aid in the diagnosis and treatment of many cancers.
ACCES shares building space with Animal Cancer Specialists. We work closely with Dr. Karri Meleo DACVIM (oncology), DACVR (radiation oncology) and Dr. Sarah Gillings, MS DACVIM (oncology). ACS is available during the day Monday-Friday, and also offers telephone consultations for referring veterinarians who want to discuss cancer and cancer treatments.

Radiology Department Referrals
ACCES provides ultrasounds for inpatients and outpatients 6 days per week. Radiographic interpretation services are available for both flat films and digital images. Our in-house radiologist, Dr. Bill Gross (practice limited to radiology) and our visiting radiologist Dr. Todd Smithenson (DACVR) are available Monday -Saturday for inpatient and outpatient ultrasounds. Outpatient Ultrasound-Dr. Gross is available Monday-Friday 9am-4pm. Dr. Smithenson is available Saturdays 9am-4pm. To schedule an appointment with radiology, please call our Referral Coordinator at 206-364-1660 and indicate that you would like to schedule an appointment with the radiology department.
For Dr. Gross: please fill out the Diagnostic Imaging Request Form and email it or fax it to 206-364-3667 before referring a patient.

Same-day ultrasounds can take place if an appointment is made between 9am-4pm

Your client will have a scheduled appointment time and will have the opportunity after the ultrasound to discuss the findings with the radiologist

Your client can also choose to drop off the pet for ultrasound if it is more convenient.

The primary veterinarian will receive a call from the radiologist after the ultrasound to discuss the case.

A report will be generated and sent to you by the next business day. If your client saw Dr. Smithenson on Saturday and you have not received a report by Monday, please call him at 206-920-5735.

Patients needing biopsies need to be seen through one of the specialty or emergency departments to facilitate coagulation testing and anesthesia. Aspirates can be performed during outpatient appointments.

With outpatient ultrasounds, the ACCES staff assumes continued case management will be done by the referring veterinarian unless a request is made for one of the ACCES specialists to be involved. If specialty input is needed, the ACCES staff wil work to facilitate an appointment with the appropriate department.
