Northwest Animal Eye Specialists was founded in February of 1999 and officially opened for business on July 5, 1999. Dr. Victoria Jones relocated from West Palm Beach, Florida to Washington state due to a recognized need for a veterinary ophthalmologist in the area. Northwest Eye Specialists specializes in the diagnosis, medical therapy, and surgery for diseases of the eye. Their mission is to save vision, restore vision, and prevent pain from eye problems. Common conditions treated through their hospital includes glaucoma, cataracts, dry eye, cherry eye, tumors, eye injuries, and various inflammatory diseases of the eye. There are hundreds of different skin diseases currently recognized in companion animals. Many of these diseases look alike, with only subtle differences in clinical presentation and historical background. As specialists, the doctors of the Animal Dermatology Clinic are trained to recognize these differences and pursue an appropriate diagnostic and treatment plan. Dr. Craig Griffin founded Animal Dermatology Clinic in 1980. With the overwhelming need for veterinary dermatologists in the country, Animal Dermatology Clinic now offers seven full time locations, which include Tustin, San Deigo, Marina del Rey and Pasadena, California, as well as Marietta, Georgia, Louisville, Kentucky and Indianapolis, Indiana. Dr. Woodfield received his doctorate of veterinary medicine from University of California, Davis in 1982. Following graduation he completed a small animal internship at Colorado State University and then returned to UC Davis to complete his cardiology residency in 1985, becoming board certified in Cardiology in 1987. Dr. Woodfield then joined the faculty at the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech. During his tenure he developed the cardiology service and was the staff cardiologist for the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. In 1990 he left academia to start the first cardiology and critical care specialty practice in Seattle. In February 1996, Dr. Woodfield began his own private practice, Northwest Cardiology Consultants, a mobile referral practice for the Pacific Northwest. In the fall of 2000 he expanded his mobile practice to also include a traditional out-patient clinic.

Dr. Woodfield’s sub-interests within cardiology include cardiac pharmacology, critical medical management, echocardiography and all phases of cardiac diagnosis. He has supervised and participated in six clinical research trials for the efficacy of enalapril and new anti-hypertensive medication. He has authored several book chapters and articles relating to clinical cardiology. Dr. Woodfield is also active in continuing education at the local, state and national level and is currently the chairman of the cardiology specialty committee to establish breeding guidelines for genetic heart disease.
